Narrative text adalah materi pelajaran bahasa inggris yang bisa kita temukan di smp dan sma untuk para adik adik yang masih bersekolah. CONTOH NARRATIVE TEXT
1. THE FLY AND THE BULL
There was once a little fly who thought he was very important. He felt proud of himself. One sunny morning, he flew alone looking for someone to talk to. He saw a bull grazing in a field. He decided to fly down to talk to him.
The little fly flewdown and buzzed around the bull's head. The bull did not bother him. He went on chewing grass. The fly then buzzed right inside the bull's ear. The bull continued chewing grass. The fly thought "What a stupid animal!"
Now the fly decided to land on one of the bull's horns to make the bull notice him. He waited for the bull to say something, but thw bull kept quite . The fly then shouted angrily "Ouh bull if you find that i am so heavy for you, let me know and i'll fly away. The bull laughed and said " Little fly, i don't care if you stay or leave. You're so tiny that your weight does not make any difference to me, so please be quite and leave me alone.
2. THE WOLF
One day the wolf was slaking his thirst at a stream when he chanced to see a lamb, so drinking at some distanced own the stream.
Outraged, he glowed " You are muddying my drinking water? i am farther downstream than you are. The water is flowing from your part of the stream to where i am. " upstream or downstream your drinking is muddying my water and i shall eat you. So, saying the wolf leaped upon the lamb and devoured him.
3. WHY DO THE SUN AND THE MOON LIFE IN THE SKY?
Long time ago, there was no day. It was always dark and
always summer. This was because the Kachina, a very
powerful people had stolen the Sun and the Moon and locked
them away in a box. In the light, Coyote and Eagle, two
friends wonder the desert.
Coyote and Eagle had always hunted together, but Coyote
could not hunt anymore because he could not see at night.
Coyote suggested that they go to find the Sun and the Moon
and make them light up the world. Eagle was worried. He
reminded Coyote that the Sun and the Moon were very strong
and it was dangerious to try to trick them.
In the end, Eagle agreed to help Coyote. While the Kachina
were sleeping, coyote and Eagle crept into their village, stole
the Sun and the Moon, and headed into the hills.
Coyote told Eagle that he wanted to open the box containing
the Sun and the Moon. Eagle said “No.” they must wait until
their travels and open it with their eyes closed. Coyote
grumbled. He couldn’t wait to see what was in the box.
Finally, he grew so curious that he threw it open. The light of
the Sun was so bright that it blinded Coyote’s eyes. The Sun
and Moon laughed and flew far away, up into the sky where
they are today.

4. SNOW MAIDEN
Once upon a time there lived a couple in a village. They had
got married for a long time, but so far they did not have a
baby yet. Every single minute they prayed to God, begged for a baby, but it never came true.
Oneday, they went to a snow mountain. They made a girl from snow and they dressed her beautifully. When it got dark, they decided to go home and left the snow girl alone. The following morning, someone knocked the door. "Any body home?" she said. The old women inside opened the door and asked, "Who are you?" The girl said "I'm Snow Maiden, your daughter". The old woman was surprised and happy. "Oh really? Thanks God! Come in, please!" Since that meeting, Snow Maiden lived with her parents. She was beautiful, kind, diligent and helpful.
Her parents and all of her friends loved her very much.
Oneday, Snow Maiden played with her friends. They played
fire. At first, Snow Maiden just looked at their play. Suddenly,
her friends asked her to jump on the fire. Of course she
refused it because one thing that made her afraid was the fire. It's because Snow Maiden was made of snow, so she should avoid the fire. But her friends kept on forcing her to jump on. Finally, she could not do anything, andd then she did it. She jumped on the fire and as result she melted. Her friends were sorry about this, they cried and cried hoping Snow Maiden could live again, but it was useless. Snow Maiden would not be back anymore.
Her mother tried to entertain Snow Maiden's friends and
asked them to make a new Snow Maiden again. They went to
a snow mountain and started making it. They expected to
have the new Snow Maiden. Days passed but their dreams
never came true. Poor them!
6. THE PRICESS AND THE PEA
Once upon a time there was a prince who wanted to marry a
princess; but she would have to be a real princess. He travelled all over the world to find one, but nowhere could he get what he wanted. There were princesses enough, but it was difficult to find out whether they were real ones. There was always something about them that was not as it should be. So he came home again and was sad, for he would have liked very much to have a real princess.
One evening a terrible storm came on; there was thunder and lightning, and the rain poured down in torrents. Suddenly a knocking was heard at the city gate, and the old king went
to open it. It was a princess standing out there in front of the gate. But, good gracious! what a sight the rain and the wind had made her look. The water ran down from her hair and clothes; it ran down into the toes of her shoes and out again at the heels. And yet she said that she was a real princess. Well, we'll soon find that out, thought the old queen. But she said nothing, went into the bed-room, took all the bedding off the bedstead, and laid a pea on the bottom; then she took twenty mattresses and laid them on the pea, and then twenty eider-down beds on top of the mattresses.
On this the princess had to lie all night. In the morning she was asked how she had slept."Oh, very badly!" said she. "I have scarcely closed my eyes all night. Heaven only knows what was in the bed, but I was lying on something hard, so that I am black and blue all over my body. It's horrible!" Now they knew that she was a real princess because she had felt the pea right through the twenty mattresses and the twenty eider-down beds.
7. GATOT KACA
Gatotkaca was a strong and brave man from Pringgadani Kingdom. He was the son of the strong Bimasena of Pandawa family and a female giant Arimbi of the Pringgadani Kingdom. Gatotkaca was naturally born half-giant. The baby was so strong that no weapon could cut off his umblical cord. "it's been a year," Bimasena said sadly, "But my son still has his umblical cord." hearing this, his brother named Arjuna decided to meditate for gods' guide. Arjuna didn't realize that at same time Karna, the army commander of Hastina Kingdom, was meditating nearby. since the two of them looked alike, god Batara Narada by mistake gave a super power weapon Kontawijaya to Karna.
Then Narada told Arjuna is mistake, and accordingly Arjuna tried to take away the weapon. They were fighting fiercely. Karna managed to keep the weapon. Arjuna, on th other hand,got the case only. Miraculouslu, the case cut Gatotkaca's cord and shortly after that, penetrated the baby's stomach. "My goodness," said Arjuna, "This will strengthen the baby. But I have a string feeling that he'll be killed by the weapon. seeeing this, Batara Narada then took Gatotkaca to the Nirvana, the place up there where the gods live. Narada would have the baby fight Patih Sekipu who was attacking the Nirvana. "What? a Baby?" Sekipu burst in laughter. "Do i have to fight a baby? it's fine with me if you insist." sekipu grabbed Gatotkaca. He hit the baby hard on its leg, but the baby kicked him. He squeezed the baby's arm, but the baby pulled his arm so hard that he felt it would break off. He slapped the baby on its face, but the baby hit his face
repeatedly with such an increasing force that his face became badly bruised. With great embarrassment, Sekipu returned the baby to Narada and then ran away.
Batara Narada was so amazed by the baby's strength that he planned to give more power to Gatot kaca. Narada plunged Gatotkaca into Candrimuka, which was the crater of mount Jamurdipa. Almosst immediately, the other gods threw all kinds of powerful weapons into crater. The following day Gatotkaca emerged froom the depth in the shape of a fully grown man with a power equal to all kinds of weapons.
the gods gave him a special gift : a hat called Basunanda, a
vest called Antrakusuma, and sandals called Padakacarma.
With these clothes Gatotkaca could fly from cloud to cloud as
fast as lightning to defend not inly his ftaher and uncle but
also the gods.
